2001 Corvette Z06 | Retro Review

The Z06 has come a long way from its C5 roots....

These C5z's top my list of cars I hope to own one day. I remember the day a friend of mine showed up in a brand-new Electron blue. 405hp off the showroom floor seemed hard to believe back then. Drag radials only he went 11.80@118mph. 20 years later, it's still impressive.

Still an impressive car.

You can get then sub 3K lbs without going full racecar, which in pretty crazy. Coupled with a simple 450rwhp build makes for a formidable machine even today.

I had an '02. Should have never sold it....damn!

Had a CE 2004 . Long tubes, 4;10s and intake and she ran hard. So raw. Handled and ran like a champ. Thought I would never get rid of it , then the 7.0 came out.
By the way LS6>>>LS2

Not a fan of the C5s... Now, C6s on the other hand... Mmmm.

My dads buddy bought a brand 02 Electron Blue Z06. I remember him driving it to our shop that Friday and riding in it. Absolutely ripped and it was the first vett I really wanted to own some day. To this day i still want a C5Z.

C5’s and C6’s were always my favorite.

Decent performance, but the real fun arrived with the C6 Z06!

These were bad ass in their day. I used to take my kid to Atco on friday nights back in 2002 (single dad life) and we'd watch these run low 12's all night long stock.
I remember thinking they were blisteringly fast, and 20 years later still a respectable performer.

3100 lbs .. interior was classic GM ( not in good way) but they delivered on performance. I remember this thing vs the Cobra R way back in day .

I still want one one day

I used to "borrow" the old man's and rip it around the valley back in the day. Fun car, but the 2002 brought the 405hp. And we all know the 2006 Z06.

It’s hard to believe that was 21 years ago

Favorite car I've had, 2003 Z Catless long tubes with B&B bullets was probably the best sound ever. Weighed 2960 and made 390whp

My 50th Z06. 475/400 N/A. Puts a smile on my face everytime!

My C5Z doing what it does best.... I autocross and track it. I had a C6Z and imo the LS7 has too many horror stories. My Z has a LS6 based stroker fully forged with coilovers, brakes kit etc. Its fast enough to be totally fun.

These cars are fun to throw around corners and can hold their own at the drag strip too.

Moral of this story. We’re old
