I'd imagine the momentary contact signaled a computer to turn on the fog lights.
Yup your 100% correct, In the escape circuit it latches thru another module (aka computer) until its turned off my means of another device action

There are? I saw one for $99.99, a couple for about $60.
Did you see any that are reasonably priced?
Seems reasonably priced if they are that hard to come by. The original switch was $40 or so.

Is it Motorcraft SW-6663 that you are looking for? Did dealer search come back with nothing?

Yes, I believe that is the correct part #
I was hoping to find one used, that's all. I'm sure I can shell out $60+ for a new one. I feel like there should literally be thousands of used ones available.

Hold out buddy for a reasonable price. These PPL are asking unrealistic prices for a pushbutton......(y)

Ha ha. Glad it's not just me being cheap, Vinnie. BTW, went out there with my power probe, and sure as shit there is 12v at the red/black with the headlights on.:ROFLMAO:

I'm definitely in the market for a new multimeter.

You read my mind on the beer, and a shot of Tequila doesn't sound bad either.

Seriously......Put a meter on it and play a bit with that headlight switch. The problem could be with the headlight sw assembly or you have a bad/loose connection that is barely making.......just something to think about while you sip your beverage.
