Found out why King may have been given up lol. He can't be left alone.

Gf left him home alone at her sister's house first and he pulled the trim moulding off the door and peed on her carpet. Then I came home yesterday, knowing no one was home at the time, but I see him looking out the window. Surpringly he hadn't destroyed anything in the house but looking around I did notice that he jumped on top of the ferrets cage to presumably try and look out the window and he clearly fell through the chicken wire into the cage lol. When I first noticed it the ferret was luckily just waking up and didn't capitalize on the open cage, but she was looking at it like "what the **** happened to my roof?"

He was in the house because my girl put him in the kennel in the backyard that came with the house and she said within about a minute he flipped the latch and opened the door to it. It doesn't have a top to it so if the door was secured I guarantee he would dig under or climb over the top.

Poor buddy just wants to be with us all the time.

sounds like some separation anxiety training might be in order

Very much. We've been trying to leave him for short amounts of time and then come back and for the most part he has been okay and hasn't destroyed anything in our house purposely, falling through the cage was an accident. Twice now though he has gotten so excited when he sees me that he ends up peeing on the floor, but otherwise he is really good about holding it until he gets to the yard. He won't even shit anywhere else when on a walk, he waits until we get back to the house, it's odd.

I did have to take him to ground outside once and then pin him again on the couch after I went to hold his collar so the cat could get by without him being curious and starting an issue with the cat as there is only one cat left that isn't comfortable with him, but he growled at me when I grabbed it so I pinned him down to ascert dominance. Both times he gives up immediately and doesn't fight it at all. He's very submissive in that regard. I think training will do him good and he'll take to it.

Gf found this guy at the local shelter and fell in love so he ended up coming home. He's an Alaskan Husky/Shepherd mix and I warned her that we would have to be really careful with him and the other animals since we don't know his history. Turns out he is one of the most well-behave and intuitive dogs I have ever had; very similar to the Mals and their demeanor. He's been great with small kids, the 3 cats in the house, and also the Ferret. He hasn't even shown an interest in messing with them or aggression, although the largest cat swiped at him from the counter and left his claw embedded in his snout, but he didn't even react to it.

His name is King which we don't really feel fits him but being just over 3 years old I don't think we'll be able to change it since he answers to it.

Not hard to do,say if you want to rename him Clem start calling him King Clem eventually dropping the King. Our Rottie was named Boomer and my wife would playfully call him Boom Jack a Lack.
After a while he would respond to Boomer or Jack.

p.s. don’t rename him Clem.

Thats awesome, how big is she? cute little thing.

my dobies have no fear and huge prey drive.

Not sure on her exact weight but I can't imagine she is much more than a pound? She's only about a year and half old, but should be full grown.

We were talking about Mustelids as a species in another thread and how stupidly fierce they are. I don't think I've witnessed any other creature with no concept of self-preservation. They'll attack regardless of the size disparity and they often come out on top surprisingly. Like Wolverines, which have been known to take down much larger prey like Moose and deer and even one that was documented killing a Polar Bear in a zoo by latching onto its throat and not letting go. They all share a lot of the same characteristics and the overall attitude, and it's actually a lot of fun to watch them because they're always looking to get into trouble. You have to watch them like they are a small child because they'll get into places where they could actually get injured or killed. That makes them sound dumb but they are actually really smart and can problem solve, they're just reckless.

Found out a few weeks ago my 12yo Piper has cancer. Large cell lymphoma they said. He had his first chemo treatment this week and responded really well, I think. He had tumors in his neck and I can’t feel them anymore and a bigger one under his arm has shrunk significantly.
Even if all goes well they said maybe only a year for him.

I’m sorry brother, that’s horrible. However if it gets you some more time you did the right thing.

I got an update on pooch. They said she had an ulcer in her stomach that caused inflammation. It appears she might have some sort of cancer in her liver somewhere. She has some small tumors they say could be cancerous, however until the rest is treated they didn’t want to keep her uncomfortable for to long. So after 6 hours at the vet waiting they essentially told me that she’s lost a bit of muscle mass, and tissue in her hips. They said depending on how active she is she’s got about a year of tissue left before it begins to be bone on bone and begin to hurt her more than it does now. She turns 12 in October, she’s outlived the rest of her litter, and most pitbulls don’t tend to live this long. They said aside those things she’s really healthy, and aware. Her eyes are not the best anymore, same for her hearing. They said if it comes back that it’s cancer for sure. They say it’s a bit risky to put her under to do any surgery. They said maybe a year or a little longer for her as well. I promised myself that I would do the right thing for her and if she began to be in pain and I couldn’t fix it, I’d put her to rest. Breaks my heart typing this one for sure.

Sorry to hear this Dan. Terrible news.
Make the next year or so, the best year of her life, as I know you will.

Being chauffeured around must be exhausting

Awesome pic. Thanks for sharing!

Shouldn't it be mandatory that every kid has to have at least one dog or a horse during their childhood?

If it was, the world would be a much better place.
