Man, not only is it rough hearing about people from your childhood movies passing on, but it hits close to home because he was my parents age. Just a sad reminder they may not be around much longer.

Think I'm going to call my Dad this evening.............

I make it a point to call my family at random times and not just when I have to because something happened. I believe I may be the only one that does that, I think its because I dont believe social media is communication that actually counts.

I agree with you 100%. I randomly call my Dad just to see how they are doing. I actually spoke with my Dad on Monday or Tuesday of this week. He doesn't do social media so it's a phone call or visit in order to speak with him.

This kind of stuff just makes me want to call him a little more. (y)

The father of a good friend of mine called me last night to say good bye. I was like what, where you going? He then told me he was in Hospice.

Smash all the tail you can and do plenty of car stuff while you can. And FJB.
Words to live by.

I just trademarked it. Hopefully you don't mind.

I read this three times. Is it safe to assume this is a friend you’ve had for quite some time and his father (while not required) had a (to a varying degree) fatherly role/jokes/ear/just turned into a friend over time?

Edit: i only ask because aside from several uncles, a FIL, and maybe a couple acquaintances, I really don’t know many other “dads of friends”,

He owned a Ford dealership for a long time and was always pure class. Raised a heck of a family. His son is a mirror image. My parents became good friends with his parents and we went on trips together just about everywhere when I was growing up. There was a bit of a Rat Pack of fathers that did all kinds of shit together including drinking more beer than has ever been drunk in the history of beer drinking. My father was an esteemed member along with him. I've just been tied up with my own health shit for some time so I haven't seen him as often as I used to.

It's tough when all of your father's friends, including your father, are gone. My bud's dad was the last of them.

That’s a superb explanation to me, even if it dabbles in onion cutting.
Sometimes our parents help make friends for us (as in this case, unless the last couple Coors Lights I opened were tainted with meth), while others we might make inadvertently through our own kids.

Sorry to hear that news man. I did still thoroughly enjoy the backstory.

Seems like we've lost more legends over the past couple of years. Sad to hear of Weathers' passing. He was a good man, and so great as Apollo Creed.
