01 VS. 03 Stock Exhaust Question

[03 Red Cobra]

An SVT dealer near me has a 01 Cobra stock exhaust cat back in stock that he would like to move from his stock. I noticed that the 01 tips don't have the silver wadding type material in them like the 03's do. Would the 01 exhaust be a little bit louder than the 03? I'm just looking for a bit more sound from the exhaust and with no drone on the highway.

I would say yeah, it is louder stock for stock

It's louder, and should pick up a few HP.

It should be less restrictive, but still won't compare to an aftermarket piece.

Why did they make the 03 exhaust more restrictive and quiet??

Personally I love the tone and deep sound the 96-01 Cobra's have but have yet to hear that from a 03. I though it was from the lower compression but maybe its just the exhaust.

I've heard to pass the DB test.

Between the blower and the exhaust it wouldn't pass the acceptable EPA (?) noise levels. They couldn't do much about the blower, so the quieted down the exhaust.

Bingo...I heard the blower added a few DB's....So the exhaust system got the shaft in the noise dept.
