Went to the track for the 1st time yesterday (only had the car for 1 month now)..

ran about 7 times and the best time i could get was 12.44@112, 60 ft was 1.977.

for the life of me i cannot figure out how to launch this car, i was on some M/T drags 275/40/17. and my best 60 foot time was 1.977 ( but most were 2.0 - 2.1). i tried launching from different rpms from 2500-4000, dumping the clutch, riding the clutch, all included a 2nd gear burn out. psi on tires were 12lbs - 14lbs.

car is an 04 vert, intake, exhaust, off road x pipe, mgw shifter, sct xcal, BF 2.76 w/3 aux idlers, BF irs brace - dynoed at 461/467

Tranny was very tempramental, sometimes very easy to shift other time very hard to get into gear??? is that normal???

I also iced the charger and TB and put ice into coolant resouivor.

Any help and advise would greatly be appreciated. I havent raced in 3 yrs but i think i drive pretty well, got my 99 cobra 13.5s on streets w/a couple minor bolt ons
...

what kind of 1/4 mile times should i be hitting??

That mph is rather low for your mods. I would think you would be right about 118-122. What did your 1/8th look like?

What was the DA of the track? That would also play a factor in the overall times. Were you spinning, bogging, hopping? How is the clutch?

I2- 5.365
I3- 8.141
MPH - 92.722
I4- 10.479

ET - 12.48
MPH - 112.747

clutch was fine, only 25k on factory clutch.... track was prepped well they sprayed VHT on both lanes twice

1/8th ranged from 8.047-8.4s

Something is going wrong inbetween eigth and quarter mile mark. Judgeing by your eigth mile trap speed you should be at about 118 mph in the quarter.

my mods are almost the same as yours and I did a best of
12.202 at 117.85 mph so far. I have 458RWHP/ 470RWTQ.
I launch at 2,500 rpms, feather the clutch and run 26 psi
in my drag radials.

Do you have a custom tune? I had the same problem in my car. It was just dogging between the 1/8th and the 1/4th. Best I could do was a 12.74. Then i found out the car was just pig rich. Maybe have a tuner look at it. Just remember, these cars dont like hot weather, and will consistently run like shit when its over 95 degrees outside.

As far as launching, it just depends on so many things, but I have managed to pull a 1.85 60ft time on 80 dollar falkien radials, but I cant reproduce it lol. Most the time I hover at 2 flat, which isnt bad for a vert on crappy tires =p

Something is wrong with both of you I ran 11.8@121 on dragradials with 455/459, dragradials at 16psi and that is not power shiftting.

Alot depends on what area of the country you live in and the temp outside as well, We see this alot from place to place and alot of guys get confused and think cause a car from NY run fast that a car from FL should be running the same #'s (nope notta) Also some guys have done the weight reducing an they do not post it in the thread nor if they were using skinnies up front, Air pressure will play a major role in 60' and trap speed.

have a nice day.

Drop the pressure in your tires down to around 15 - 16 psi and you should shave at least .2 of your time. I ran a 12.6 with tire pressure normal dropped it down to 16 psi then pulled off a 12.4 but i could not get above 113 was over 100 degrees gonna go back this month and run again I would like to see my trap speed a little higher especially since i am putting down 460 and 460.

I was told I have 11's in my car. I have a 12.20 and a 12.24 as best
runs so far, maybe lowering tire pressure is the answer? thanks

I was at the track over the weekend in my car. I was running 22.5 lbs on Nitto DR's and was able to get down to a 1.85 60 ft and the car was still falling on its face off the launch @ 3500 rpm. That was on a first gear burnout and it was 72 degrees. It was only a 1/8th mile track but I got to a best of 7.70 @ 93.5 mph. Not sure if thats good but if I coulda kept racing Saturday I know I could of got to the 7.50s if I could have gotten a good launch. I never powershifted the car once and could have done better heat cycles to the tires. Just my quick lil bit of info.

You ran in Sacramento... elevation = 3500', and it's the middle of the summer. Take it to a sea level track with cool temps and you'll be in the 11's.

even though it was a high altitude track etc.... it should still pick up a bit more from the 1/8th to the 1/4 mph wise. 23 -24 is normal for most cars and you only picked up a tad over 20. It should be around 115 in that kinda environment and 120 or so at sea level imo.
