One of my friends has an 04 SVT Focus and he is getting ready to change his timing chain or belt. He has called 5 different Ford parts departments and a regular parts department and is getting different answers. Does antbody know what is on this car? Thanks in advance.

It is a belt and the SVT Focus has an interference engine.
The Gates part number for the full kit is TCK294A (belt, tensioner,2 idlers).
Just the belt is T294.
There are special tools required for the job to lock the cams into position.
It is not a fun job for someone who has not done it on one of these before.

I have the tool if he needs it, I got mine from some store online as Ford does not sell it anymore. I will say that this is the MOST intense work I have done to a vehicle....before it was the Intake Manifold Runner Control on my Cobra. Get the tools, there's a LARGE Torx bit that you need also. Not that bad, take your time, get someone there to help you and get the correct "how to"
