'05-'10 Strange Struts

I am installing my Strange adjustable struts (2005-2010) with GT500 strut mounts and noticed this when I did the first side.

I tried to close the hood and it doesn't appear to push the hood up any but it does leave a good size indent in the heat shield. Anybody else have this problem?

Are the '05-'10 struts shaft longer than the '11-'13?
