Can u guys suggest tire sizes for the following rims..

NEW 18x9 fronts "OE FR500 "

NEW 18x10" Rears "Wheel replica's FR500 Deep Dish"

I want to run a wide tire out back and need to know if a 295/35 or 305/35 is going to be ok.. And what tire size should I get in the front to keep the car good in cornering/handling like a cobra should be..

------------------

Also I looked into Nitto's [555 extreme] and they didn't seem to have the sizes with a 35 aspect ratio height ??.. All they had was:

295/45/18
255/45/18

Q: Will this 45% height tire on an 18" rim rub the IRS or other areas out back ??

I got two weeks to figure this out any input is welcome..

Note: I'm am looking at NON D/R's because I don't put her on the track just cruise around ALOT to shows all over..

Consider this - the stock tires that came on your car are 25.67" diameter, and 295/45-18's are nearly 28.5" diameter. I think that tells you everything you need to know about how they're going to fit.

I have 18x9.5 in front, and 18x10.5 in back (SSR GT3'S) pics @ www.01cobra.net

I run 275/35/18 in front, 285/35/18 in back

Has such a wide tire up front caused you problems in cornering ?? I've heard that a tire that big will wanna track along on it's own alot so you must fight it out at the steering wheel sometimes..

The 285/35/18 out back is looking like a good choice.. But would love a 315/35or30/18 if theres one to be found without breaking my wallet..

Never go wider than 275 on the fronts but with most brands of tires and tread types I haven't heard really anyone having problems with road tracking very much. The 2 people I know that 1 used 295's and the other 285's had road tracking very very bad and I drove both of these cars. WOW! All I can say is never never use 285's or bigger on the front of a cobra or mustang ever! But I still have great tracking and oversteer thanks to being able to hit the gas and get the rear lite 275s out front even in some of the lower end tire should be just fine and on and 18"x9 wheel I think its the only size tire you should ever run on there (front) as for the rears...305's are the max I would say for a 10" wide wheel for what you seem to be looking for 315's will fit but 305's will handle alittle better. Yes I run 335's but I like the rear real real lose in the corners and I hook up off the line perfect so for ME its just what I want for MY driving style. Keep that in mind...he says this is the best set-up but he said this is better....there both wrong and there both right cause everyone like a different feel to fit there driving style. But I think most people here will agree that 275's on a 18x9 front is about as good as it gets.

umm where can I see pics of the wheels you bought. I went to their web site and didn't see a choice for the deep dish rears.

Thanks

I am going to be running 18x9's all the way around, and I am going to run nitto 555 size 305 out back, they are really about the true size of a 285, and I am probably gonna runa 265 or so up front.

Is the 555 "extreme" available in 305/35 ?? I'm not looking to put a DR on since I travel alot to shows around new england more than the strip..

I can't seem to find a 305 or 315 in a NON drag radial .. Even in other brands..

I've already been through all those links and sites a few times already(tirerack one above was for 17" BTW)..

I'm getting closer to finding a tire but still not there yet.. The 305 widths have all been drag radials (except for the Kuhmo Exsta 712 305/30/18.. but Kumho is not my first choice)..

It looks like no 305/35 or 30 /18 Nitto 555 Extreme "Non DR" exists..

And with more searching done today .. I don't even see a 305/35/18 by BFG or Goodyear either (as in any that's a non Drag radial tire)..

Might have to go with 295/35/18
now If I can only remember where I saw that one in my search.. :-D

yea just go w/ a 295...unles you want the nitto 305 witch wont last long

Yep.. I'm thinking the same thing now.. Since I spend alot of road time cruising all summer, I need a tire that will hold up to this..

And I can't complain about what I have currently... Toyo Proxies T1S

The current stock replacement Toyo's I bought have been great for traction and a good wear for 3 seasons, and they have a unique aggressive look to them... So I found a great price online last night for NEW T1S's..

Toyo T1S's
------
295/35/18 = $212.00 (~$45 savings)
265/35/18 = $158.00 (~$50 savings)

 Damn good !!

Side Note:
With all the time I've spent looking around for tires again..I've confirmed a rumor I have heard before that Toyo and Nitto are related companies and you can find that info if you look hard enough in stock reports on the Nikki and even chemical company documents.. There was even an online site that has the 555 listed as "Toyo/Nitto".

CHROME DEEP DISH !!

They aren't out yet.. Still Back Ordered and 2 weeks till shipment from wheelreplicas from what I hear..

I just hope they are a perfect match to the OE Ford Racing one's I bought for up front .. It's gonna be sweet !!
