It might it 2055 which would be a comparable spread.

And that’s if someone swapped in a better power plant than the POS 5.0l GT40 shit that it came with.

Let me rephrase that. A cobra won't be, in today's dollars.

A 93 R went for 132k and a late 90s fox with 16 miles sold for low 80s. Both exceedingly rare specimens

Many 1993 Cobras are hitting the 80s and 90s. BAT and Mecum are great resources for all the sold values lately.
It is also surprising that there are so many low mile cars popping out of the woodwork right now.
The fox body has become a collectible classic.

Was pretty confident it would go north of 150. Beautiful work. Whoever got it bought it to enjoy, not sit with no miles and praying for the greater fool theory to stay intact. You can spend north of 100K now easy with ADMs on look at me 2023 1/2-ton trucks that will be just another used ford or dodge or chevy in 5 years. In 5 years, this will still be a one-off custom build that was executed to an exceptional level.

Bat shows 1 over 100k that isn't an R. The next highest is 68k. That's a long ways from 100k.

A 35 mile and a 350 mile car sold for 90s o lver a year ago when the market was hotter.

A 261 mile car sold for 85k 18 months ago.

The highest non R cobra with more than 400 miles was in April 2022 and went for 78k and had 2000 miles.

The next highest was 68k and it just sold with 12k miles.

Where are the 80k cars? I've seen a few. All with no miles. Those examples are few and far between and all sold months ago when prices were crazy. The market is cooling.

Congrats, but 165≠300 which is what you were barking on about.
I don't think he was ever really on 300, he just said 10x that amount when the dude said 29k, then the very next number was 165, and mecum said 175. I think it went for pretty much exactly what he expected.

Curious if he made any money or just got his investment back.

Im no mathematician but isn't 10x 29k a lot closer to 300k than 165?

Semantics, sure -- but he said what he said.

I said it was worth 10x what your lightning is worth.
I would have been happy with anything over 100k.
Buyer paid 165k so will see it sell for more next time around.
Show me a cobra with 9500 miles after a refresh and with 90k miles on clock that someone will give 165k for.

I just got a congratulations note from a Vice President of Intel at Hagerty today and that they reviewed truck and said this: build was incredible and the price paid supports that!
Hagerty now lists most expensive 61-66 gen truck 165k
You said the market was 30% down but even after being driven 9500 miles it was still worth 165k to someone? What will it bring with good marketing not in that down economy you describe? 200k plus?
so yes I traded my twin I beam 6 cylinder truck for a new RaptorR and have cash left over . . on tuesday I traded a 29.00 $$ truck for a new F250 6.7 HO
Still have a few of these ecoboost trucks left and have a nibble on another ecoboost project for 100k so go ahead and enjoy eating more crow.

It's a pretty rough lightning to be worth 16,500. Most are selling for mid 20s. So it's still not 10x

It's a figure of speech, not an exact statement. Kind of like when Jackie Gleason would say to Alice "one of these days Alice, to the moon".
Would have sounded a bit weird to say "it's worth 7.4x", or whatever.
