A buddy of mine is looking at buying a 93 Cobra R from a gentleman. Is there a registry to list all the vins of the cars that are true corba R's? Whats the easiest and best way to tell if a car is a real "R"

Most of the 93R's (except the first two and last 7 I believe) end with a 169XXX number so that's the easiest way. Calling SVT is also a simple way as well.
Back in 94 I was involved in an attempted insurance claim from someone who forged an SVT certificate to state that his 93 Cobra was actual an R so if someone REALLY wanted to they could forge the documentation. Much harder to forge the vin plate or have someone pick up the phone at SVT.

The last 6 of the vin are 137518. I did not see it in the registry but i could have missed it. I'll prolly have to call SVT tomorrow
don't they also have the 1 F A C P 4 2 D start to the VIN number?

I have a complete list of 93R vins and 137518 is not in it nor is it even close to a 93R vin....
170xxx=1vin, 169xxx=99vins, 179xxx=2vins, 197xxx=5vins

The auction is over already. I think it 80k and still didn't meet the reserve. I see these cars from time to time on there and I think the sellers are just testing the market and aren't really wanting to sell. Probably had a 100k reserve.
