I have a 5.0 HO (89,000) engine sitting in my crashed '94 GT (how I miss my first love). I'm thinking of putting it in a '82-'86 style mustang. Which year if any would be better. I believe the the '82 style bodies are a bit different than the '86 GT. I would prefer the '86 t-top GT. Which year if not all did the Coupe's come out?

Thanks

Stick with an '86 model year That way you can still keep you fuel injection unless you want to go through the hassle of coverting it to Carbed.

Does it matter if I just want to take out the old engine and drop my '94 engine into an 82-86 body.

rebuild it

Just a suggestion. I would rebuild a 89K motor before a swap. It will probably need bearings, a value job, and rings.

It isn't hard to get a manifold and carb and stick it in a 1979-1985 fox-bodied mustang. The 1986 was a speed density set-up (not recommended). It will easily install in a 1987-1995 V-8 body (mass air). The bodies are different but the engine bay/motor mounts are the same.
