1997 Mustang Cobra Vortech Supercharged
30,xxx miles. Black exterior and black interior. Vortech T trim supercharger. Absolutely beautiful car inside and out.

I bought this car about 2 months ago. The previous owner owned the car since 2002 and did all of the modifications. The engine is making a ticking/tapping sound that is audible when the engine is cold and is less audible as the engine warms up. I’m far from a mechanic, but I think it sounds like what a lifter tick (lash adjuster) would sound like. See the video below for the noise. I had the car looked at by a performance shop and was told that they wouldn’t know what is causing the noise without getting into the engine, but they said it could be a lash adjuster, piston slap, timing chain, or any number of things. I don’t have the funds to have them get into the engine and diagnose the issue, and I don’t want to run the car hard with the issue, so this is leading me to sell the car. The shop and I are confident that it isn’t a bent rod as that noise is much different than what you can hear in the video. I recently took the car on a 150 mile drive and it drove great. The performance shop told me that based on the way the noise sounds that it should be fine to drive under normal conditions and could probably go forever without a problem. I am very conservative and don’t want to run the car hard until it is fixed so I have kept it under 3k rpm. If someone wants to test drive the car, I will ride along and the person can drive the car under normal driving conditions without driving it hard. Proof of funds with intent to purchase are required to test drive the car.

Other than the ticking/tapping sound the car is amazing. It is always garaged, has been very well kept, and has had routine maintenance. The interior, exterior, and engine bay are all incredibly clean. The paint is in excellent condition, however, there is some spider cracking in the front bumper.

I am asking $9750 for the car but am open to reasonable offers. I have run a Carfax which shows a clean title with no accidents or incidents. There is no lien and clean title is in hand.

Beautiful Cobra! Exact year and color combo I'm looking for. I've got a fresh motor ready to drop in too. Considering taking this off your hands but I'd have to get it to Atlanta for storage until I'm done with my tour in Okinawa in two years. Would you mind PMing me the VIN?
