I have a 97 cobra with 50K miles on it and a 60K ESP warranty. Last year in the winter I heard a tick, friends thought I was crazy. Close to spring it got worse and in a Mc D's drive thru a coworker heard it. It is identical to the posts you guys have listed in the forums. Dealer says ford said it is normal, it is only heard with hood down, at idle, sound like a rocker, etc.
It seems to slightly go away when the outside temp is hot? when cold outside it becomes my "powerstroke cobra" no matter how long the engine runs or with different oil viscosity.
It seems most of the posts arer aboput the 03. Is it possible my 97 has the same problem? How do you suggest dealing with ford before the ESP expires in Jan.?
Thanks for any help
David
