I like the fact that you could pay $50,000 for one brand new and only lose $15,000, especially when it's been driven! Any other $50k car loses that value after driving off the lot and would lose even more every mile added!

I agree with your theory, but the 00R was closer to $60K with tax/tag/title if the buyer didn't pay a premium to MSRP.

Nonetheless, very few new cars keep 60% of their value after nine years of driving ownership.

EVERY car has tax/tag/title...when the new buyer pays for the car he will end up paying about $40k...SERIOUSLY??? :dw:

Well congratulations your in a state that does this. Most states do. And it doesn't matter if purchased used from an individual or not.

Actually total cost in ttp on $50k would be closer to $55k not $60k if you want to get picky. Here in TX the tax on a car is 6.25%, I can guarantee title transfer and plate transfer wouldn't be more than $600.

My point was the MSRP of the 2000 Cobra R was over $55K. When you add the gas guzzler tax and actually drove it away, it would have been almost $60K. Very few left the dealer at MSRP. You can search the Cobra R forums.

I can remember when people were paying over MSRP for a 2003 Cobra. A few people paid over MSRP for a GT500. I wonder if anyone will pay a premium to MSRP for a 2010 GT500?

Who cares the car is still worth a great deal of money with 30k+ miles...

I'm sure there are people that have paid premium on the 10' gt500. A local dealer tried selling a kr last year for $119,000....obviously it sat and was still there a month ago.
