They were super slow. Best friend in HS had a really nice 2.5 RS with some mods and I would leave him easily in my SVT Focus. He eventually upgraded to the new at the time WRX and it was much faster. My little Focus used to beat the SI's pretty bad too. Crazy how far the compact segment has come.
