Hi all,
I changed the trans filter for the first time in my truck. The truck has 40k miles and I've owned it since new.

Upon pulling the trans pan, I found a a yellow plastic part that is about 1/2" diameter with an o-ring in it. The 1/2" steps down to about 3/16" diameter. I can't find where this part is supposed to go.
I re-installed the pan and went for a short ride with no issues.
I've serviced transmissions in the past and have never seen anything like this. I'm thinking that whoever originally built the trans at the factory was playing a joke and put an extra part in there.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

If it is what I think it is, it's a plug for assembly before they put the dipstick in. It just pushes into the pan so no leakage.
