cousin is wanting to install long tubes on his 07 GT, everything he has been told by local shops is that you need to basically raise the motor out a little to put them on....this true?

Seems a little much to need a cherry picker to install headers...anyone know a better way?

I installed a set of JBA long tubes in the barracks parking lot by myself. I unbolted both motor mounts and lifted the engine up about 2 inches.

I did mine in my Mach. I had to remove the K member but I've heard that you just have to raise the motor on the 3V's. It's a great mod though IMHO. Good luck!

When I did mine, had both motor mounts out, engine as high as it would go (barely touching the cowl screen), steering shaft disconnected, and the starter needs to be removed.

Edit: Only used a floor jack and block of wood to lift engine.

While you're at it throw in a BMR K-Member.
It gives a lot more clearance to the headers.
