I nabbed a TR-6060 from an '07 GT500, a TUET5800. It had a loud whine so the owner pulled it, the input shaft has a lot of play.

I know there are a lot of "while I'm in there" things I could do, but I'm trying not to let this thing spiral out of control where I send it to Tick and spend $5k on it.

Input shaft bearing for sure, plus a full inspection to see what else looks rough. Should I do bronze fork pads? 1-2 synchro?

Talk to tremec or an authorized dealer. They have a refresh kit that includes rings, seals, pads etc. I had mine freshened up 1 year ago with this kit, some additional bearings, roll pins, seals etc, and also added plumbing provisions for an oil cooler (I haven't connected it) for less than 1k
I was told brass shift fork pads are stronger than the plastic ones that come from factory, but do wear out more.
