I thought any 05+ was built off the S197 platform.......same way the fox, SN95 and "new edge" are related?

Please correct me if I am wrong

still s197 because it is still the same platform. Same thing with the 99-04 cars still technically being sn-95 cars. Opinions don't really mean anything.

Edit: beat me while i was typing

It's the same chassis, they just refreshed the sheet metal. So... yes.

Since the 10-13 is still using the same chassis platform as the 05-09s it's technically still an S197.

OT: I heard the 2015 will use a new chassis and be code named "S550" -- true?

That's all the reports I've seen calling it the S550. Wonder why they chose that sceme of numbers...

With it being a complete new chassis and system, call it the SN-1. :D

Ok same chassis , but what about the different transmissions and motors ?

What about them? :??:

If only the '05-09 Mustang is an S197 because of their sharing of platform, engines, and transmissions, what are the 2010s? Because the 2010s look totally different from the '05-09 but have the same internal makeup but are in a complete different league compared to the other Mustangs that look just like them.

I already said with an exception of the 2010 having a 4.6l, the thread just ask for your thoughts. Not that opinions matter I just wanted to see what people think about it

If the difference in engines and transmissions affect it, then what are 96-04 cars? They had different engines and transmissions than the 94-95 cars.

'05-'14s are all S197s. They're all built off the same platform that was ultimately shared with the Lincoln LS sedan and the now defunct Thunderbird, regardless of engine or transmission. The platform is still the same.

If the difference in engines and transmissions affect it, then what are 96-04 cars? They had different engines and transmissions than the 94-95 cars.

And for that matter, what about Cobras, Bosses, Mach 1s and other special models? They have different engines and transmissions too.

Fo sho.

I think it depends on chassis as well as how big of a visual redesign there was within the model years. 79-04 is all the same platform, yet nobody refers to 94-04s as Foxes even though they are Fox platform cars.

They are all s197s. Those who disagree are those same people that refuse to believe that a 1994 v6 and a 2004 Cobra are the same car.
