2011 5.0 Spring Shootout!

Hello everyone.


We are happy to announce that the 2011 5.0 Spring Shootout will be taking place on Monday March 28th @ Maryland International Raceway in Buddscreek, Maryland.
This event is open to anyone with a 2011-2012 5.0 Mustang. (Side note: If there is enough interest we will run a class for the 2011-2012 V6 Mustangs as well)


As a participant you will be racing with/against some of the top shops in the country!!!


Also the event will be covered exclusively by 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords Magazine!!!


This will be a grass roots style shootout with three classes.


Naturally Aspirated street
3500# min weight with driver
Full interior
No gutted race cars with 400lbs in the trunk
Factory 6spd man or auto trans
Dot tires

Power adder street
3500# min weight with driver
Full interior
No gutted race cars with 400lbs in the trunk
Limited to one power adder
Factory 6spd man or auto trans
Dot tires

Unlimited class
Power adder and naturally aspirated
Must be a 5.0 4v "Coyote" based engine
No min weight
Any trans and rear allowed
Multiple power adders are allowed
There will be winners declared for both N/A and P/A



We will be running a heads up format. Even with the class racing going on we will have a test and tune running all day. This way participants that did not qualify can still race and make as many passes as possible

Gates open at 8:30am



The racing will be from 9am-5pm.


Racers fee is $100.


Since this is a private track rental there is no charge for spectators, but we are limited to 2-3 people max for each racer.


MIR is an IHRA participating track. All of their rules and safety measures will be enforced.

Ah, beat me to it. I saw this on another forum and was about to post it up over here. I'll go, but I won't be racing. I'd just get eliminated first round anyway. If they ran a bracket class I'd be up for it, but with a bone stock car and only getting down to the track once a year I'd be wasting my 100 bucks to run.

However, this should be a great chance to hear some different exhaust setups, and watch some nice cars run :beer:

I would still run the car, be a good chance to go down a well prepped track. Between T&T and qualifying passes you will get your 100.00 worth even if you go out first round. Then you can enjoy yourself in the stands watching the fast guys or make more T&T passes between rounds.

Eh, MIR is usually well prepped though, even on Friday nights. Especially if you go when Top Street is running. Plus, this is a work day for me, so if I do go, it'll only be for a little bit before I head into work late (or leave early I guess).

Having said that, MIR does a phenomenal job with track rentals. I've been fortunate enough to be a part of them for the last bunch of years through MACA, and we've never been disappointed. The first year we did it for the cobra club two guys broke half shafts at the line right next to each other, and when Evan and I hopped the wall to help push them back, the track was sucking our shoes off. It was awesome.

VMP's car was at 10.00 and if they were there I but the got in the 9s with the great weather. Plus there were some pics posted (no ETs) and that white whipple car from Evolution was there too from what I seen in the pics.

I bet this is one of those 'dont tell anyone what it ran until the magazine prints' deals, so I'm just guessing..
