is it rasp or something different?
The "blatty" sound to me is when you have an O/R mid pipe (more prevalant with an o/r H)...and you have a strait through muffler. For some reason, the exhaust sounds very bad @2500-2900rpm when accelerating, not WOT. It gives off a bad popping or not smooth sound....I call that sound blatty, not raspy. X pipes sound more raspy than H pipes...in general. H is deeper X is higher pitched or "raspy".
The rule of thumb that I received and experienced from 7 different exhaust setups from my '04 Cobra...is that an O/R H sounds better or true with a chambered muffler whereas an O/R X sounds "ok" with a strait through muffler like borla.
The O/R H that I have on my '14 GT500 sounds good because the stock mufflers are chambered. Most good sounding aftermarket mufflers are strait through so it gets very tricky to find one that sounds good with an O/R H.
