    1967 GT500 $32,225 (adj from $4,195 for 2019)
    2020 GT500 $75,000 to $105,000

    1968 Charger R/T $25,848 ($3,506) + Hemi $4,453 ($604) = $30,301

I'd pay $30k and daily the **** out of a brand new 2019 '68 Hemi Charger for $30k.

Considering the advances in manufacturing, marteiral processing and parts production, the car would be stronger, lighter and better equipped for likely less money.

If very low is in the 2:41.5 range, then it is pushing the zl1 1le into last week.

Zl1 1le went 2:45.7 so by my assumption of 2:41.5, it would be a whopping 3 seconds faster per lap.

Zr1 went 2:37.7 so it’s 3 seconds faster than the gt500 in that case, but hey.

Now if very low is sub 2:41, then we have a hell of a car on our hands.

I wonder what a handling package gt500 will run without the aero, my guess is 2:45-2:47.

You're comparing pro and mag time. I know ZL1 1LE ran 2:45.7 but that was Lightning Lap, so you can throw that in the dumpster. A pro in GT500 will clobber 2:45.7.

I’d assume the 2:45.7 is beatable by a seasoned track rat out there in the zl1 1le but doesn’t gm usually send their own drivers out for lightning lap days?

Im pretty sure the 2:37 gm got from the Zr1 was a gm factory driver

How wide is the gap of a handling pack gt500 vs a cf aero gt500? Are the base and handling pack cars in the right hands with a tire going to be pretty damn impressive too? Obviously street tires on a track is a joke. 550lbs of downforce is also a metric **** ton too though

Lightning lap is done/driven by a magazine editor. Those times are definitely beatable by a pro.

Funny because this is the exact thing I basically said either earlier in this thread or another one, and man did it ruffle some feathers. Started posting fat girl pics lmao. Of course, it also spawned the posting of some nice boobies.

FWIW, that's at 180 mph. Won't see anywhere near that at most tracks.

It'll be interesting to see how close the base car is to the CFTP at VIR if they both run the same Cup2. Something tells me they would/will be very, very close.

I've been thinking that for a long time. Pull rear and pass seats, lighter wheels, and all the sudden base car keeps up just fine.

Some of the CFTP ppl on other site would get all bent up if they heard this.

The Vette lap times were set by Jim Mero, nobody is out driving Jim in a Vette on a course he is familiar with like VIR or the Ring

The e book shows a single set of spring rates, and single listing for front and rear sway bars. I can't believe the rates/diameters are the same (base, handling package, and CFTP) and it would make sense that the mag dampers have a different calibration. Sadly, we've yet to get into the meat and potatoes on this one.

This is like pulling teeth with somebody that had their jaw wired shut.

False. Jim Mero ran a 2:37.25. And the FGT ran 2:38.62. With Billy J

This 500 will likely pull off a 2:44ish on LL and a 2.42 in a pro test.

The pro tests consist of more than just plopping in a pro driver, a lot more set up and data go into the perfect laps.

I think thats a bit of a far fetched assumption given the unsprung weight and aero considering how massive a difference those make, especially on a fast sweeping track like VIR. But id say its accurate for amatuer drivers who dont have the nuts to take advantage of aero.
