3.73 or 4.10 gears?

Are the 3.73 gears best for the 5.0?

All my other cars had 4.10 besides my older m3 and I loved it, but I heard that the 4.10's on the 5.0 are just a bit to much even for the drag strip.

I like being able to use my car for autox as well as for the drag strip and its also my daily driver till I get a bike. what do you guys think and did any of you already made that mod?

The gearing in the MT82 trans is very aggressive. With a 4.10 you will be going through 1st and 2nd VERY quick. First gear has a 3.66:1 ratio. With a 4.10 it will be like a granny gear. lol

I think the 3.73 would be fine. Unless you have a specific race track you are trying to gear for. Then base the gear you need of the tire height, mph needed in a specific gear for that strait away and so on.

1st - 3.66
2nd - 2.43
3rd - 1.69
4th - 1.32
5th - 1.00
6th - 0.65

Yea thats what i thought plus with autox i should pretty much be only in 1 or 2 gear... at the most 3rd.

3.55's N/A stock intake manifold and other boltons
3.73's N/A with Boss or C/J intake mani and other boltons
4.10's Too much imo, maybe for high elevation?

3.73 , 4:10s without a big tire or lots of rpm will have to shift to 5th at the track!
