Right now on tv, The pace car for the NASCAR camping world truck race at Martinsville is a yellow GT350 track pack.

And it's not overheating !!

lol

Does it have have a black roof? I have a yellow one with black roof that will be here in a week or so....now I'll know where the extra 25 miles came from on the odometer.

... The V6 Alpha Romeo Giulia just put down a better time than the 350 R on the Nurburgring. ...

The GT350R has never been run for an "official" time on the Nurburgring. That 7:32 time is bogus, unsubstantiated BS. It was debunked the same day it was reported. Consider yourself duly informed. Stop using or quoting that time. Spread the word. We need to get that weed stamped out.

Why hasn't Ford run it then?

7:32 is a very respectable number for a $55k car.

If anything, I'd assume it's slower then that.

When has Ford ever run a Mustang around the Nurburgring for an "official" time? I don't even think they ran the '04/5/6 GT for an "official" time. Ford just doesn't participate in it. It would be nice if they did, but they don't.

What's a 2004 Ford GT?

Couldn't remember if '04 or '05 was the first model year. That was a long time ago.

Why slower? It's more than a sec faster than the z28 on 2 min. 5 secs faster on 7.40 track seems very much in line with known facts.

Yes Ford has multiple times for the R and TP at the ring. No they have never released these times.

I'd assume slower because Ford has never officially stated the times...

If you got amazing times, wouldn't you want to share that?

They don't share because it's meaningless. There is no independent sanctioning body to certify new oem tires, 100% oem parts or options from showroom floor, EPA regulation tune that meets passes ca smog 2 testing, etc.

The best way to show for sure what a car can do is purchase one from a dealer then run it on the ring with a pro driver. GM and the 09 ZR1 lossed 12 sec when this took place. So much for oem gm runs.

Then they bought the wrong car. Ford did tell you that you needed coolers for the track because they also offered a TRACK PACKAGE that includes the coolers.

This...from the guy that whines about spring rate in an R on the street?

You convinced me we BOTH bought the wrong cars. Let's trade.

Proof of whining? I said the R rides rough, which it does. Where did I say Ford needs to give me a softer riding car because I bought a track car and want to drive it on the street?? Didn't happen. Get your facts right. Don't start trying to deflect onto me just because YOU bought the wrong car. I bought exactly what I wanted and expected everything I got.

Ford did not communicate the limitations of the Tech well. I did a LOT of homework before I bought my car, I read just about everything in all media in English. I also talked to people in Ford. I wanted an R with Tech (and planned to add my own back seat before they said they'd release a kit) but wasn't willing to pay the ADM. Based on what I read, a cooler kit (and a spring change) seemed easier than the Tech systems integration; nobody could tell me if the wiring was in place in a Track to put in the Tech center stack. Plus I wanted the Tech seats, not the Recaros.

I've prepared and crewed race cars for multiple disciplines, have spent easily 100 days at the race track and have a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I'm not a ****ing idiot looking for a handout. I'm disappointed the "Cooler kit" ended up being a transmission change and cooler kit and costs what it does.

Hehe, even with the required trans change I still did right. It's just annoying.

If I could get a new R with Tech for MSRP even today I'd agree I bought the wrong car.

Asking for an R with tech is like requiring a PhD out of pornstar...
