I have a 95 Cobra.... Mods so far are a Flowmaster 3-Chamber and a short throw shifter.

Plans are a bigger cam (not sure wich one yet) a little port polish head and intake work and LT's and h-pipe.

so which do you all think I should go with?

I would say it depends on what you are gonna do. If you are considering any road racing then I think 3:73's are better. Or possibly 3:55's. But for drag racing the 4's ( 4.10, 4.30, 4.56)are better -if you can get the traction.

the 3's should give you a little better milage. I get well over 300 miles per tank in my 97 - right at 24.5 MPG.

CibraChick, all of these guys drive mod motors which are much different than our pushrods. You guys are nuts. 5.0's do not like to rev. If she puts anything higher than 3.73's, then she will never get traction with all the torque her 302 will deliver. 4.10's would be fine at the track if you're running slicks with a built rear.

I am trying to decide this as well. I have a s trim that will be going in soon. So I am thinking 3.73's will be fine. My cobra is a daily driver.

I've had 3.55, 3.73, 4.10 & 4.30. I'd stick with the 3.73. I've been the happiest with that gear & I ran better times with that gear. If you drive alot on the highway & care about gas mileage and wear on your motor from constant high rpm's, 3.73 is the best bet. Nothin' higher. :)

94/95 Cobra's should either go 3.73's if using a power adder or 4.10's N/A. Anything higher and you're gonna spin the tires just about everywhere....i don't even want to talk about driving in the rain with 4.30's. (yikes)

96 & up guys rev higher (95 Cobra 5800 redline vs. 96 Cobra 6800 redline), therefore 4.10's or higher are ideal for their vehicles, but not for a 94/95 Cobra IMO.

I voted for 3.73s. With those gears, you'll be able to take 4th up to 118 mph (@ 5800rpm), which is a little more then you probably need n/a, but it gives you plenty of room to grow.

3.73s on a 5.0. They make there power in the lower rpms. Plus, you'll run out of gear VERY quickly with anything above that.

I am going whith 4.10 gears and a blower. As for traction, that is nothing some suspension mods won't fix.

Preach on brother. You can see my comments on this same subject HERE and a little ways up on this thread.
