Still learning about my car. Only had it a few weeks.
When driving at normal speed in 5th/6th gear, any one have a whine coming from the rearend? My car has the perf pack, so 3.73 gear in the back. Car seems to be driving fine, but I hear a mild whine when I give it a little gas. Like say around 2-3k rpm in 5th and 6th gear. I do not hear any whine in the lower gears.

Whine on accel but not on decel? These cars are easy to have gear whine with the 3-link UCA that acts as a tuning fork.
Miles?
Ever launch at track?

Yes, slight whine on accel but nothing soon as I take my foot off the gas.
Car has 17k miles on it. Bone stock other than Cold Air Intake and oil catch cans.
As far as I know, never been to a track but who knows. It drives great and launches great. No issues with gears 1-4.

Any kind of whine from the rearend regardless of what gear your in can be the result of......
  • Axle lubricant being low
  • Tuned dampers missing or incorrectly installed
  • Axle housing damage
  • Damaged or worn wheel hub bearings
  • Damaged or worn differential ring and pinion
  • Damaged or worn differential side or pinion bearings

Having owned an 11, 12, and a 13, all of which had/have 3:73 gears there is always a little hummm to them.

With your mileage I would not be to concerned.
However, I see your in Chicago. If those are 17,000 DAILY DRIVEN miles, than you may want to look over your rear-end components. Effects from salt, snow etc
