Ive been daily driving my 83 Gt lately and it ran good for a few weeks. Now all of a sudden it has been idling high at about 2k-2.5k rpms. the idle drops sometimes if i give it a quick rev and only ever drops to 1.3k rpms never below. the weird thing is prior to this problem i would idle at about 800 rpms.
The car also sputters while driving unless i keep my rpms at above 2.5k then it runs pretty smoothly. Seems like the car is running very rich it is guzzling a bit amount of gas. For example my 30 mile commute to work it nearly guzzles half a tank of gas.
Another problem i encountered is if i turn the car of to pump gas after driving it it will take a bit to turn on. I really have to pump the pedal to get it started and it also had trouble climbing my uphil drive way and died half way up.. i had the pedal to the floor and it was hardly moving.. although i only encountered this problem once.
