95 cobra...burning up coils

hey guys my friend has a 95 cobra and it is burning up a coil pack every day. hey can put a new one on it and drive it for 10-15 minuts then it just dies and the coil pack is smoking hot. when you replace the coil it runs fine for another 10minuits. the car has a msd 6al ignition and we replaced it with a used one and it did the same thing, i know it would be possible that they are both bad but i want to rule out any more options before we return the ignition to stock. it also has a new distributor cap and rotor button. i dont have a clue .. help please
