If I remember correctly the 95R came with a flat tappet cam. There was nothing special about the lift #'s. If someone else does not get them to you soon I'll dig through my paper work and find it for you. It is just a pain to get to.

The specs are listed in the FRPP catalog... or at least they use to be.

As stated above its a hydraulic flat tappet cam.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm working on 95 cobra R clone for a NHRA stocker and there was some question on cam application. Thanks again

If I am not mistaken that camshaft (FRPP) had a Ford part number originally. D2OE-?????. I remember this for working at a Motorsports dealer when the cars came out.

You might be right. It could just be a 351W marine cam brought forward with a new pt# since the R motor is from a marine application.

I remember that camshaft crossinh over to the Ford number years ago. It was a small camshaft from what I remember. Same one that came in a 70-73 Mustang or Torino with a 302.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but it seemed approprate. I know that the 95 r cam is an old cam that was pulled out of the past. Does anyone have the ORIGINAL part number? I found it at one time but can no longer find it. Someone on this thread suggested that it might start with D2OE.

Thanks,

Larry

Marine application.

Since the 95R 5.8L shortblock is from Marine/Forklift/Industrial roots, wouldn't these books be of help for Marine specific tolerances, torque specs, and other items that would not be automotive?

The 302 firing order was different than the 351 in the '70's. Around '82, they put 351W camshafts in the 302's in the Mustang only. It was to enhance the life of the engine from breaking crankshafts due to the old firing order where 7 and 8 fired beside each other, and at higher RPM's caused a strain on the crank. The 351 cam was also a little more lift, and gave that 302 2V GT engine just a little more umph. :poke:

Why would you want know the old cam part#, when you can get the '95R cam through Ford Racing, and then worry about finding oil with zinc in it?

Valve lift was corrected to .481 on the intake and exhaust with the factory installed crane 1.7 roller rockers.
