My stock 96 Cobra needs tires. Is there a brand and size that offers both great grip (straight-line speeds) and handling? I'm currently running (almost bald) 255/45/17 Yokohama A 520's. Should I go with 275 tires? Also, would switching to different rims (size, type or whatever) improve performance? I also want greater HP, and I'm thinking a CAI, any recommendations on brands and other inexpensive additions? Thank you.

i always recommend Nitto 555Rs for tires, I have them on mine and love them (i'm running 275s). If handling is a big concern for you a wouldnt run anything bigger than 255s.

Switching to different rims will not improve performance, unless you get some lightweight rims. If your going to run 18"s youll actually lose performance because theyre heavier and they lower your gear ratio.

As for adding horsepower, check out the sticky thread called 'worthwhile mods for a 96-98'.
