Is there any difference between the 99s IRS and the 03-04 when it comes to choosing lowering springs. What springs are you guys running? And is anyone running wheel spacers on the back with the stock wheels. If so are you running 1 or 1 1/2 inch spacers?

As I recall the factory lists a different spring for the 03-04 but most aftermarket suppliers do not, I'm running Steeda Sportlines on mine, if you do run a spacer I would suggest Eibachs since they seem to be the most robust, I've autocrossed on them w/o issues.

I have maximum Motorsports coil over 575lbs springs in the rear very nice ride and not a lot of wheels hop. My gt wheel hopped more then the IRS with a solid axle go coil over in the rear at least you will thank yourself

I believe the spring rates are different from 99/01-03/04. I dont know if they are physically interchangeable.

IRS spring summary by Jefe/JRGoffin/Starnsey

IRS Spring Rates:
• 1999/2001 Cobra F: 500 R: 470
• 2000 Cobra R F: 800 R: 750
• 2003/2004 Coupe F: 600 R: 600
• 2003/2004 Vert F: 500 R: 470
• Steeda Cobra F: 720-780 R: 650-790
• H&R Race F: 760-850 R: 770
• H&R Sport F: 700-760 R: 685
• Eibach Pro-Kit F: 450-570 R: 650-820
• Kenny Brown F: 725 R: 825
• Vogtland F:400-742 R: 274-713

Double check in thread above

If you lower the 99-01, you will need aftermarket rear shocks.
The oem shocks are phyically not able to hold up to lowering springs; they will be crushed.

H&R Race in the stock OEM locations (non-CO) seem to be a favorite. 800#/770#
Again you will need bilstein B6, B8 or koni sports shocks...or something

The Vogtland springs are picking up a following too..

I am guessing that cutting the springs is not an option for those with over 100k miles, right?

Car has 54k if I have to buy shocks and springs I might as well go coil overs and spend the extra bucks. Thank's for the info. I'm new to IRS. Loving it so far!

I did the cut spring route but i went pretty low. I was not happy with ride quality after a few months. I decided to go with Steeda springs and kept my Tokico HP dampers. I am obviously higher but now I am not hearing scraping from my mufflers. And of course ride and handling are much improved. By the way the Steeda springs are specific to 99-01 cars.
