Its the internet. The place is full of scammers lurking 24/7 and classifieds is where they go. It's pretty simple to see what occurred here and it's unfortunate. Any lowlife with no integrity that sees someone ready and willing to fire off money and a phone number to contact them, has dollar signs in their eyes. And they had the whole backstory to make it sound like they knew what they were talking about. Guys are always quick to laugh at people who won't post their plate number, phone number, etc online. This is EXACTLY why.
If you used AMEX via any of those payment platforms, you can easily get the money back. Their customer service is top notch. Good luck getting it back Slowings

Just to touch on this, the past few days I have come to the forums and there has been a pop up for some kind of contest win that takes over the screen. When you swipe back it allows you to go back to the forum page and pops up again after clicking something else in the forums. Possible that there was some kind of overlay on the page to grab information similar to password scams?
