can someone point me in the right direction???

94 cobra basically stock (gears, c&l intake, exhaust)

1. started on the highway cruising at 2400 to 2500 rpm.
AFR would be around 15.0 then would drop to around 12.
check engine light would come on and it would go back to
around 15. would stay in that range while the light was on,
light would go off, AFR back to 12, check engine light would
come back on and AFR would go back to being ok. this
cycle went on for over a 2 hour drive. sometimes it would go
rich but not trigger a light. On average the ratio would be
fine for 10 minutes to 20 seconds of being rich.

2. car sometimes idles in the 14.7-15.2 range BUT sometimes
wants to idle rich in the 12.0 range

3. is it normal to go really lean when you let off the gas at
anytime while driving (17.0)

4. dont know what the AFR were like before this because
this happened after i installed A/F gauge, replaced leaking timing
cover, new harmonic balancer, pulled fuel pump to replace only
to find out that the one just ordered was broken so i put orginal
back, and replaced fuel filter.

5. car seems to be running fine, i wouldnt know anything really
going on if the check engine light didnt come on, which it never
had before or if i didnt install the AF gauge.

any help is appreciated, im kinda lost with these kind of issues.
thanks guys

Tried to pull the codes at the local auto parts store about 15 minutes ago...the light was off at that point and the guy couldnt get it to tell him past codes for whatever reason...will try again somewhere else tomorrow in hopes of getting some ideas. Thanks
