What did you guys use around the edge of the cutouts to make it look better? The ragged edge isn't working for me.

Glad you asked....here's the deal:

I tried to use the Rubatex 1/8 by 2inch
that was suggested but couldn't get it
to stick on the felt part. Then I tried all
kinds of stick on insulations etc without
any good results. I tested some special
glue as well on a small spot but was afraid
to do the whole thing that way....then I
did the following;

Buy a touch up bottle of dark gray paint
that matchs the border (I used Toyota Dark Gray)
then paint around all the edges and letting it absorb
constantly in the fibers. Use alot of it in between
tacky dries. It eventually formed a hard border around
the cut outs and has held very good & looks OK. Make
sure you cuts are neatened up as nothing such as
insulation will be covering them.

Just take your time with the small brush
and keep going until the borders can't take
no more absorb-Then heat dry with a hair drier
which helped to harden in-between coats.
Hope Ii helped-Good luck.

The flex trim works perfectly i've had it on for over a year now and stays perfectly. Available at most marine supply stores such as Boat us

Sorry about the transposed page number, it is 3467. I couldn't remember my log in for their site to verify the part # and couldn't find a receipt at home. I'm pretty sure it's the 8451A63 because it's the only textured Black (TBL) available and the trim I bought is textured not shiny. I Image Googled "Cobra Hood Mod" and this is what I found; http://www.fragfest.biz/~coleman/cars/2003/cobra/#Picture_15
That looks like the same trim I have. I opened it up a bit before I put it on then used pliers to crimp it tight. A 10 ft order is around $10 w/shipping and that will do 2 hoods with plenty of room for error. I think this type of trim is the best looking solution.

I used Flextrim too and it works a treat. Most any boating store has it.

Watch out for West Marine though if you jetski, snowmobile, quad, or own a boat. I no longer shop at West Marine as they are a corporate contributor to the Bluewater Network, a special interest organization out to ban watercraft, snowmobiles, quads, etc.
Never understood why a company who's business depends on boaters contributes to an anti-boating lobby. Odd.
