Advice/thoughts on 5.0 engine rebuild

this winter I am going to get the engine pulled from my '93 Cobra to fix the rear seal, and do a little engine refresh.

I am looking to balance horsepower gains with keeping the engine stock looking when first opening the hood. So, keeping the original intake is manditory, along with probably reusing the existing heads.

I am looking for comments/recommendations/ideas from the group...

You should save up and buy a crate shortblock if that is your plan. You will save time, money, and achieve better results that way.

Why not go stroker and possibly get an extra set of heads with larger valves and port work?
