Just installed a Tri Ax shifter, this is my first time with an After Market Shifter, is it supose to feel as notchy as it does? I like the nice short throws, maybe just takes some getting use to, really helps you to shift quicker though.

Yes it will feel direct and notchy. Look at the rubber pieces that are in the stock handle. Those provide the slop and softness that is now gone.
Notchiness = good! :-D
