The 10w40. I've been running it for a while and the used oil analysis always comes back great.

There is a huge oil thread and think they discuss it. Per am soil the 5w50 is the only oil they will stand behind in our engines.

I'm currently using the 10W40 but gonna install the 170 Tstat this week so would I be better off with the 5W30 or is 10w40 fine?
Sorry but it's really confusing

I'm going to be testing the SS 0W-40 Amsoil. On paper it looks really robust. It'll be interesting to see how the UOAs come out.

10w30 with a 170 t stat. That's what I use. I've been running that the past 2 years and about 3 oil changes.

Thanks for the help guys.
10W30 it is but one last question.
Dominator vs signature?
I only drive her in the summer and stored in winter. It's just a weekend fun car, maybe 1-2k miles a season but in wot quiet often on county roads.
I think the dominator is the better choice for me?

I just changed mine at 2k miles and went with the 10w40 like the oil thread suggested. I am running the stock T stat.

Side note, how often are you guys changing your oil and filter when using the Amsoil? I see the filter says 25k miles, however I would never consider even thinking of going that long for a filter. I usually change my fluids in my bike and my past cars every 3k regardless if it is synthetic or not.

Is that overkill with the Amsoil fluids?

Amsoil AZF 0W-40 Use this no matter what thermostat is in your engine and the car is used for street/drag use only.

I change mine every 6 months usually 6000 miles on both my vehicles and home generator.

I have run the 5/50 the 10/40 and the 0/40...

I have been happiest so far with the 0/40 from a "sounds the engine makes" perspective...Of the 3 my engine has consistently run the "quietest" with it. I have no doubt all three do a fine job in regards to lubrication but the 0/40 certainly "sounds" the best...

I change mine at 10,000, that's back and forth to work or 6mo. When I ran mostly highway I went 20,000 and did a 10k filter change. Sold that car at 100k and it's still going strong now at 150k

Ordered the Dominator 10W30.
I don't drive a lot and only for 6 month a year so I think it'll work fine for me

I've been using 10w30 signature series for about 3 years with good reports using a 170 t stat as well. One oil change a year with about 5k miles each time.

I've been using the 0W40 SS for a little while, and so far so good. I'm using it in my GT500 (170° t-stat), and I used it in my Evo as well as my 135i. Both needing a good oild for the turbo(s) bearings. Seem like good stuff.
