No break in required. Keep in mind that as part of the head replacement you will get your car back with a fresh fill of Motocraft 5W20 and a new Motorcraft filter too! Both times I took my car to Ford for the head swap I had just replaced the oil and filter with Mobil 1 products... what a waste of money... I IMMEADIATELY drained out the Motorcraft oil and put my 5W30 Mobil 1 back in. I'll bet my car has had 6 oil and filter changes in 10,000 miles...LOL!

hey meat, is there any reason you are not using 5w20, like amsoil or something? why 5-30?

Ford only recommended 5W20 because they wanted to keep their CAFE ratings low. I could care less about the .03 MPG increase I might get from the 20W. 30W is thicker and protects better from what I've read. These engines are hot blooded to begin with and down here in Alabama it gets DAMN HOT.
