i emailed afs wheels they told me they dont have a 10.5 rim that will fit 100% correctly on my car which is a 2001 cobra in the near future they said they will have somthing ,now arent all the irs rears and 99-03 body styles the same?? why would the 03 10.5 rim from afs fit fine on randy's car or any other 03 cobra and not on a 2001 cobra?????

The wheels will fit the only difference in the axles is the 99 had a 28 spline but the 01 and 03's have 31 splines. Also Ford says that they upgraded the half shafts on the 03's none of this will effect what wheels and tires will fit. Hope this helps!

I'm no expert, and I've never had a Cobra-R on the lift, but I was told that an '03 has the same IRS as a Cobra-R, which is different from the 99-02 Cobra's. I believe the previous post was right, with the -R and 03 having a higher spline count axel.

I don't know for sure though.

Could the answer maybe be that the offsets need to be different for the Cobra IRS to fit cleanly while the AFS wheel is setup for the solid axle?

The 10.5" wide AFS wheels have a 7" backspace and will fit the 99/03 IRS cars with up to a 285 tire and just barely clear the rear IRS chassis bolt. The backspace is too much to use a 315 tire without a spacer. You need a 1/2" spacer to fit a 315. The 03 specific IRS wheels will have less backspace, should be between 6 and 6.5". The 10.5 wheels were built originally for the 94-98 cars but many 99 up owners use them on their cars with no spacers up to 285. I have had them on mine for 3 years.

Another clarification on the pumpkins and axles used in the 2000R. The 2000R pumpkin is apparently offset some to get clearance for the lube cooler connections, so the halfshaft lengths are not same side for side like on all the production 99/01/03 Cobras. The 2000R uses the same CV joints as the production years, and is 31 spline just like the 01/03. The 2000R halfshafts, therefore are no stronger than an 01 halfshaft and the length left and right is slightly different. I've never measured them.

03SoCalCobra--thanks, LOL. The learning curve on the 99 up Cobras is pretty steep. I help out when I can.
