You guys said you wanted questions that demanded Google skills and discussion, so here's one in two parts. If you've been to USAF OCS I ask that you wait 24 hours before answering.

Part 1: What early proponent and developer of pursuit aircraft doctrine is known to have scolded people after they had done something dumb with the phrase "That was dumb enough to make you a bomber pilot!"

Part 2: The part of the above officer's career that made him famous was served when he held rank granted by a very unusual commission. How was he commissioned at that time, and who granted the commission?

General Claire Chennault. He was made a general by the Chinese for starting up the AVG.

That's my guess.
