Looking to buy an EAP model SVT Focus.

The one I'm interested in at the moment is a black '03 EAP 3 door. It is an all original clean car. Everything checks out on it, except there's no "SVT" badge on the back - just says "focus" in small lettering.

My question is: Did some of these SVTs (or maybe just EAP models) come without the SVT badging?

They all would have had the badge, but since there are no holes drilled in the body to mount them (they're just on with double sided tape), many people remove them. Mine had both badges removed.

You can check the VIN of the car for the SVT code just in case here. Positions 6-7 and 8 will tell you if it is a real SVT or not.

check the 8th digit of the vin...should be a 5.

and the badges (on all Foci 2000-2004) are just double sided taped on, no holes at all.

I'm currently in the process of purchasing a zx5 svt, My 6-7 positions are 37, not 30 like in the decoder, the 8th is a 5 tho. Am I missing something here? Also has just focus on the back.

Can you post up a pic of the car and the engine?

Those are the images of the craigslist ad. Popped the hood and it looked like the right engine. Not that I'm too familiar with focus engines. Has the red inserts in the seats.

I think that decoder may be wrong when it comes to 2003 ZX5 SVTs, Just looked on Autotrader and all the 2003 5 doors have 37 NOT 32 in 5-6 slots. 2004s on the other hand have 30 in the 5-6 slots.
