Nice writeup. Thanks for the info. I was thinking of doing something similar but with only one batter on under the right rear set and adding a rear seat delete to make room since my backseat hasn't been used in like 4 years.

This is what most of us do in Aus i.e. fit a fully sealed no-maintenance battery like an Oydessy PC680, FullRiver HC20, Varley Red Top RT20 (all same dimensions).

As said before, keeps the mass nice and close to the centre of gravity, also allows a kill switch to be wired in-line from the battery to the original positive junction block fairly easily.

Plus if you need to jump-start or quick charge them, you can do it without lifting the hood.

You can do something like this:

I've also seen Odyssies and Brails on their side on the floor. You just need to be sure the terminals are isolated.

I just ran an Odyssey in front.

When I my old formula Ford, the battery sat under my legs. After burning a hole in my driver's suit from the fumes of a regular battery (70's technology), I went to a sealed battery laid on it's side. No problem. Apparently they don't care which end is up. Had a similar problem with the fuel tank, which you sat/laid on. Weld sprung a leak and fuel traveled up the crotch strap to my...well, crotch. :eek:h:
