I know this has probably been asked a million times on here already but I wanted some current opinions on the criteria I'm looking for.

I am currently running Nitto 555r's in the rear and the stock f1's up front. I want to replace the nitto's with something more wet weather friendly. I am also looking for the best bang for my buck in all aspects, just a well rounded performance tire. Here are a few brands I have been researching over the past few hours:

275/40 BFG KDW II's (not sure how they fair in wet conditions and apparently noise level is horrendous from reading reviews)

285/40 Firestone Firehawk----seems like a good deal (2 NEW P 285 40 R 17 FIRESTONE FIREHAWK W OVAL TIRES - eBay (item 350422637281 end time Jan-12-11 11:36:28 PST))

275/40 Nitto 555

What are your opinions on brands and sizing?

KDW2s come in 275/40/17? Since when?!?!

Get the new NT05's. Not the NT05R's. You will love them. Great wet traction. Either that or stick with the 555s

I just got a set of nitto 555R's for mine since I dont daily drive mine any way. But for a all around tire and good price I'd have to say the NT05 would get my vote too.

I did a search on tirerack under 275/40/r17 and the KDW2 were under it. It is listed right next to price on this link.
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

Thanks for the advice on NT05's, read some reviews and they seem to grip well on wet and dry situations.

I have owned 6 Mustangs, all with 17" wheels and have always wanted those tires. They never offered them in a reasonable size in 17", just 18". Those are great tires. Noise wont be a problem if you have aftermarket exhaust. I am getting 335 KDW2's next time around, but ive got 18" CCWs now. You might call and check with Discount or another company on that. They used to list them in 17" and it was a mistake on their site. Who knows now though, maybe they finally realized how much business they were missing out on

I ran 275/40/17 NT05s on the rear for 7500 miles before I found 3 nails in them. By far the best street/sticky tire I have ever had. First would spin just a bit when cold but 2nd gear dead hooks. I even got in boost on wet roads and they hooked for a little bit. Youll love those tires

Standard Nitto 555. Great tire for the price.

Damn.. this place has them on sale for $119/ea!

LOL, love the review it got.....

Awesome tires at an awesome price!

These tires handle great and the road noise is non-existent. I have these tires in a 255 x 35 x 20 package, and I can still take the sharpest curves in AZ; at 65 mph+ in my '93 Buick LeSabre with ease " my friends"...

I will stick with Nitto's and Onlinetires.com, from henceforth, as I am now a believer!

I ordered 4 NT05's from discount tires and hope also to get them on this week. How many days shipping for your tires?

I think just 2-3 days. It was really fast! It just depends on where the warehouse is located to your zip. I imagine you will be getting yours in the next few days.

They seem pretty big for 275's, around 10.5" compared to the old 315 555r's at around 12" (really small for a 315)
