Had both heads checked last week. One had two bent valves. Both heads were freshened up with valve jobs. Hopefully the car will be ready by this coming weekend.

Getting the car back today. Time to install the blower. I wish there was a better fuel pump without having to spend $1,000 for a return fuel system. I would like to run a 79mm pulley instead of the 82mm on E85.

YESSS I wish there was just a fuel pump upgrade not a whole new fuel system lol.

UP and running tonight. Small coolant leak to be fixed tomorrow. DA is 960' right now. Much better than the 3,000'+ it has been all summer.

Trying to decide if I want to stay with E85. I am thinking about going with high octane gas. The car is not a daily driver. May just use Torco or such to reach the 104ish octane level. E85 runs about $2.25 gal around here. My gas mileage went from 25mpg at a 75mph cruise to 15mpg on E85. Guess I need to do the math as to which is more cost effective. Plan on raising my shift points to 7,600 rpms now that I have a better block and OPGs. Car was shifting at 7,200 rpms. Don't see the need for a better fuel system with regular gas, like E85 requires. An 82mm appears to be the lower size limit with 95# injectors and BAP. I am yet to get a good answer from anyone why a GT500 pump would not be better than the stock pump. One of my FB buds is trapping over 109mph with a 79mm and Torco. 3,920 lb pig like mine.

OP - what did you do about the $500 core charge for the shortblock- just pay it or did you send them your old one( obviously you pay it then they refund it if the core is returned) Im seriously thinking of ordering one to put in the corner and then start to collect the other necessary parts needed to install my 14 heads and timing stuff on the new short block.

I bought my short block from a Ford dealer about 5 miles from where I live. Received my $500 credit when I gave them my old block. Some of the late build '14s came with the '15 rods. Don't recall the build date though.

What crank gear did you use? The 11-14 one? I am going to get a billet one but not sure which one is needed

I believe the 15 rods in a late 14 builds has been debunked. Heads and 3 bolt water pump yes, but rods are same as rest of 14s.

Just going by what Justin Starkey told me. The '15 short block does not come with a crank gear. Had to use my old one. Did not see the need to buy a billet gear. Scott8583 is still running the stock one. He is making a touch more HP than I am.
