Okay so another revival as I have a BMR premium k member installed. It fit, though there was no room to adjust as stated in previous posts. Now for alignment. Does anyone have specs for alignment? I can’t be the only one that has made one work! Lol

Was there not even enough adjustment available to square it to the car?

As far as alignment I'd set it to what MM recommends in their caster camber plate instructions as a starting point.

From there you can check your tire wear and adjust accordingly. It all depends on how you enjoy/drive the car.

I personally used to run more negative camber and more caster then they recommend.

It was square but not much room to do anything else. This was a late 2021 built part just now getting around to doing the install. Too many projects, too little time.

I was just going to use the MM specs but figured it was worth checking around before we tackle it Wednesday morning.

I couldn’t do anything once I installed mine however, I ensured i bolted/tighten in a crisscross pattern to avoid further complications downline. My cousin and I squared it up at the house. She’s aligned as she’s going to be.

Is it actually square or is square as it's going to be the best you could say about it.

Was it square as it fit or would you have wanted adjustment?

Ugh. Add me to the list of non-fitting BMR K. Standard K member here. Wish I had seen this thread before I bought mine. I am running Bassani mids and have both ES poly and MM solid mounts. The passenger header is hitting the lower firewall before I can start tightening everything down. I am able to get all the bolts in loosely but I can’t tighten it down without things start to hit.

Well that's discouraging. I ordered the Standard K-Member because it seemed like there weren't any problems with it based on the replies here. I also ordered Bassani Mids. So...

Guess I'll find out if I have the same problems real soon.

Can you post some pics of where it's hitting?

Where did you see folks having luck with the standard K member and Bassani Mids?

No mention specifically of the Bassani Mids just that the standard for fine without issue and the premium was the one with all the trouble.

That said the Bassanis typically provide the most clearance of any aftermarket header so if they don't fit not sure what will fit.

I'm seeing quite a bit of folks saying otherwise on the Bassani's. I have a post up in one of the 96-98 groups on FB and a guy there is saying it is a known issue with the Bassani mids to hit on the passenger side. I'm running into that exact issue. The Bassani's really need to be much tighter to the engine.

I know this isn't my thread, but I think it's more beneficial for this information to be in one thread than a bunch of others so i'm going to thread jack a bit.

I've got a 1998 Cobra

-Built motor but still teksid block
-ES motor mounts and MM solid mounts (have both as I had to grind down the ES mount on the passenger side some to clear the header and wanted to see if the fitment of the engine changed with a different set of mounts)
-Bassani Mids
-Stock Ford oil pan

Initially had a Team Z K member. Headers fit, but was super tight in same spot. But main issue was my oil pan was sitting on the main beam of the K member. I now have plenty of room at the pan, but now my passenger header is smacking the lower passenger fire wall. I will get those pics this weekend, but for now here is the BMR sitting next to the Team Z

Maybe the Bassanis are just a bad choice. Mine are close on the passenger side. I had to replace the motor mounts to clear the K member. But they were the originals with 100K+ on them. I'm running a MM K member though.

Yeah I'm in a 99-04 2v so definitely a horse of a different color.

I am definitely keeping that in the back of my mind. Just sucks because this is already the 2nd set of headers I've bought for this car. I'm getting tired of buying parts 2-3x lol. Had a set of Pacesetters prior to this.

Got a response from BMR very quickly this morning. I asked what mounts and headers they used to design the K member. The response was stock mounts and Mac headers. I wish they would have disclosed that on their website as the Mac headers haven't been made in years.

I vaguely remember hearing that. It's one of the reasons I keep talking my buddy out of going with headers.

Checked in with a guy I know that runs the standard K on another forum and he said he had absolutely zero issues with fitment running a a coyote swap with bbk long tube headers.

My K Member should be here tomorrow, but I'm still waiting on my headers to ship.

I was able to find a winning combo. With a little grinding of the passenger side of the K to clear the inside of the Bassani header and a change to Maximum Motorsports engine mounts that gave me the clearance I needed everywhere. I initially switched to the BMR as my oil pan was touching the previous Team Z K member and I couldn't get anything figured out working with Team Z.

It's hard to tell in this pic, but the stud on the MM mount is about 1/4" further back than the ES mount (driver side mounts). This actually helped me because it pushed the engine forward just enough for the passenger Bassani header to clear the firewall:

Here is where I had to clearance the K member:

I now have oil pan clearance and clearance from the firewall and the header. It's only about 1/2", but with solid mounts I should be fine. I think the only time it'll be really close is on decel:

Feels good to have the engine fitting really well in the engine bay again:
