That's what I'm saying, it's kinda pointless.
"I won! Oh wait, I went too fast?"

Wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers, just an opinion.

Not if you know what your car runs.
In most cases the race is won or lost on the starting line.
You run your number.
Being a good bracket racer takes skill and sometimes strategy.

Like I said, I don't argue that. It definitely takes some skill.
It's just not for me.

Huh? Passing them is kind of the point. They would have to red light for you to beat them without passing them.

There is two other ways you win, if they run faster than their marked time or breakout and you either run your time or was closer to your dial in time, or they have something that isn't allowed in the class rules at said track. This happen to me on both occasions the 1985 Camero I ran a few years ago was suppose to have treaded street tires but he had cheater Hoosier slicks on which automatically he was DQ'ed.

But yes you have to be about three steps ahead when doing bracket. If I wasn't gaining on them by the 330 ft mark I was probably going to loose, as I was usually the hound chasing the rabbit in Street Stock at my local track with my S/C Marauder. Very rarely I was in the reverse role but I always did the slight lift right before the finish line, unless it was way to close then I just keep the accelerator buried and let the sticks lay where they lay at the end, either run my time or broke out.

Neither:
Heads up you need big thick slicks in back and skinnies up front. Then you need roll cage fire suit maybe HANS device then of course you need a Shute in back.
Nothing about this build leads to a great looking or even a fun driving car.
Bracket racing you need an automatic the does the same thing over and over again, think s4 auto. Boring.

Much rather have a Hellcat Manual or 350R. Run have a blast win or lose...

My perfect car is the 991.2 GT3 manual.
If I need an auto id go PDK or the 570S which to me is just a stunning car!

You just said that you do not like heads up racing, and then contradicted yourself.

You don't have to have an 8 sec car to run heads up. I see street cars run heads up at the track all the time.

If you think heads up racing is not adding a damn thing to go faster.
I said I don’t like heads up racing the cars end up looking like the cobra jet. Something that’s no fun to drive on the street.

You can bracket race in this manner too. You just won’t be competitive in either.

But there are heads up classes where a street car can be competitive. Sure you need a 6pt at least.

From a driver/owner point of view, I can see the appeal of bracket racing. You know what you are getting into, know the time you need to run to win and tune to get there.

From a spectator point of view, bracket racing is the absolute worst.
