hey guys i need help with a 2001 diesel excursion.we replaced both batteries cause it had died but thats not it we replaced both and still when we turn it on it does this clancking noise (kinda like when you blow a sparkplug at least on my L it sounded like this).i dont know if you guys can help but i didnt know where elsr to post.its cold and my dads in the middle of nowhere i hualed ass to my job to use the net.please help!!

Makes the clanking noise while cranking?? A bad CPS the tach will be dead while cranking and shouldn't make any noise. Try to isolate where it is coming from and get back to us, its pretty broad at this point.
