After feeling a vibration, I noticed that two of the lug nuts on one of my rear wheels were gone. The studs had snapped off as well.

I went to the Ford dealer and bought 2 replacement studs.

Can the broken ones be removed and the new ones be installed with the axle still in the car? This was on my R after a track event.

Thanks,

Ed

Yes, you can do it fine with the axles installed. You can take a good punch and beat the old studs out. Put the new stud on the hole, screw a nut on and use it to pull the stud in while tapping on the head of the stud. Just don't use the nut to pull the stud alone, tap the head while tightning.

As Brian said, the answer is YES... I know for certain, because I too had one of my rear ones changed not long ago... I had accidentally stripped the threads. Don't ask??
