These cars absolutly amazing!
His car is bone stock down to the filter ..
It was hot and humid and he still ran a 13.58@102 at a horrid track that is 2710 ft above seal level...
I know on a cool night and a sea level track he could prolly touch 12's with good pratice STOCK!
Where was this car in 99-02 ford ???
Sad thing is I dont think this car is getting the recognition it should be getting because of the 03 Cobra IMO!

help spread the word.

there has been heated debate between these machs and the ls1 over hear and ls1 territory. these 2 cars are very even with each of them having a different personality.:burnout:

The people that dont want to hear it are the haters and non believers ..
There is not much you can do with haters.
I used to have an LS1 and quickness wise its a drivers race and that being the stronger 01+ LS1's ...
But as far as MPH I still think the LS1 has a slight edge...
As far as the 1/4 mile goes I think who ever shifts better wins.:D

Gee, that sounds alarmingly like my local track, LACR! Was this at Sal's Mustang Drag Day? Those are some great times!

Certainly good news!

My Mach went 13.43 @ 103.8 mph stock (paper filter & all!),
and I'm a so-so driver who runs at a so-so track with mediocre prep.

I LOVE THIS CAR! :-D

The Mach 1 is certainly not one to underestimate. Who cares about MPH? Street and freeway rolls do.

i'd prefer MPH to ET any day. I can turn MPH into ET .. its pretty hard to tweak extra MPH out of a low ET

ie easier to get a 13.3 @ 107 into the 12's than it is to get a 13.3@104 to be 13.3@107..

MPH is generally more of a show of HP.

I heard the horsepower will be the same. Ford may raise the "published" HP 5 to 310, but the motor is identical.

These cars make 325hp or more anyway. The HP number ford gives it is just that, a number.

horsepower is the same. its the exact same engine, tony. the only differences will be the added colors and they will likely be less 04's produced.

as far as mph to et. hp is always great and more hp creates better mph. but the true test of a driver is from a dig, getting the car to go from zero to a certain distance or mph in the shortest amount of time.

personally i like the feel of power(acceleration) so im inclined to like the torque number the best. its all good though:beer:

'03 Dark Shadow Grey Mach 1

281.7rwhp/305.8rwtq (Bone Stock)

13.43 @ 103.81 mph

Mods coming soon...

Gone, but not forgotten:
2001 Cobra Convertible
#2149 of 3384

318.1rwhp/303.8rwtq (Pretty much all the bolt-ons)

13.045 @ 104.87 mph
___________________________________________

So the 305 HP Mach 1 (Underrated, should be closer to 320+) makes 281.7 at the wheels, and a 320 HP Cobra with all the boltons makes just over 318 at the wheels. I'm not doubting the power at the crank, I'm doubting the driveline. Is there really that much of a loss? If so, then it's running quicker times with less power to the ground than a stock SS LS1. ( I know that a stock SS would be very hard pressed to make 318 RWHP) That's not bad, I wish GM could do that.

No matter how we look at it Ford bulit a car thats a strong runner with the LS1 1/4 wise.
I do have to admit though I'am more of a mph/Roll/Freeway guy my self.
Maybe because my last car and my recent one have absolutly no traction at all and one had a POS rear end (01 Blown LS1 w/7.5 rear ) and the other recent one right now ,my 03 just wheel hops and does all sorts of funny things.
Ohh well , I guess not having traction is not a bad thing .:D

hey Abtin,

What color was it?

There is a Yellow one at LACR & during the regular Track Prep he is busting 13.84 ...thats pretty good considering the track isnt as prepped all that good.

I heard the Sal's Day track was pretty damn good. Some of the Cobra fellas hit there best ET's that day. From 5 tenths to 3 tenths off the normal times.

a lot of people who actually go to the track care about MPH a lot more than et. et=drivers capabilities...mph=vehicles capabilities. u choose what you would rather have.
